Washington DC has an abundance of Colleges and Universities with first rate men’s and women’s soccer teams.


American University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Howard University and the University of Maryland are all NCAA Division 1 schools with men’s and women’s programs.

Trinity College is an all women’s school that has a Division III team, the University of DC offers Division II men’s soccer and Catholic University offers NCAA Division III programs for both men and women.

Historically, the DC area has been a very strong area for college soccer, with Howard University winning National Championships in 1971 (Great story here: and 1974 and the University of Maryland winning National Championships more recently in 2005 and 2008 to go with their 1968 victory as examples.
